The Inspeed/MadgeTech Wind Speed Data Logging Kit includes the following:

This data logging kit allows you to set up the data logger from your PC or laptop to collect up to 16,123 intervals of wind speed data. Each interval is an increment of time that you select. The data logger stores the number of rotor rotations during each interval, which is proportional to the AVERAGE wind speed during that interval. The end result is a collection of data points, each of which represents the average speed over that interval. The average speed is the ONLY information captured for each interval.
Intervals range from 2 seconds to 12 hours, and up to 16,383 can be stored in a single run. This means that the data logger can be left unattended from 9 hours (16,383 intervals at 2 seconds per interval) to "22 years" (16,383 intervals at 12 hours per interval).
Setting up the data logger is simple, using the software provided. Downloading the data is also simple with the MadgeTech software.

The Madgetech data logger counts pulses (rotations) during each interval. A simple math formula converts pulses/interval to average wind speed during that interval.
