The Kestrel e400i 3kW is a turbine for those wishing to make significant production. The e400i is equipped with an advanced passive blade pitch control system, allowing the e400i to maintain and exceed peak power output during strong winds. When the wind resources are available the Kestrel e400i’s advanced direct drive alternator is ready to harvest this abundant energy source.
Unlike most standard Horizontal Axis Wind Turbines that use a furling tail mechanism to protect the turbine during high winds by shifting the tail and bringing the blades into the wind to ease pressure, Kestrel turbines have individual blade furling mechanisms. This innovation in small wind turbines brings great benefits. The turbines have fixed tails and never need to move out of the wind. During strong winds when you want maximum power output from a turbine the Kestrel furling blades allow the turbine to always present the blades to the wind and not slow down and reduce power output. Indeed every feature of the e400i optimises renewable energy generation.
