On a recent field trip to the Australian Museum, Bunyan Films had a behind
the scenes tour of how Por-A-Kast and Por-A-Mold products are being used
for world quality exhibits and displays. Hank Van Leeuwen director of the
Palentology moulding and casting department, was our guide. The department
makes all sorts of sculls & reproductions of dinosaurs, fossils, skeletons,
and even casts from life.
Pictured is Por-A-Mold SG-450 used to make rubbery reproductions of a Sun
Bear's feet. The SG-450 has also been coloured brown.

The Australian Museum requires materials of the highest
standard able to reproduce castings and moulds for virtually any situation.
The range of uses is as diverse as full dinosaur skeletons to minute paper
thin bat skulls.
Pictured here are some crocodile teeth. Using Por-A-Kast Mk 2. |
Unique Fossil
Pictured here is the top half of a diprotodon's skull. It was once a
huge rhino sized marsupial relative of the wombat. This delicate
plaster cast of the 10,000,000 year old creature is it's self over 100 years
old. As it is a rare cast from an even rarer fossil find, this piece needed
to be cast again. The Australian Museum has one of the only full fossil
skeletons of this ancient creature. The Museum will be displaying this skeleton
in an upcoming exhibition featuring Australian Dinosaurs later this year.
In the photograph we see the skull being prepared for an injected silicone
mould. |

An ancient metallic pterodactyl?
No, just one cast in Por-a-Kast Mk 2
with aluminum metal powder added.
These exciting and creative pieces will
soon be featured on our website, so you can purchase these amazing products. |
